First Pickins'.

We just planted out veggie garden a little over a month ago so I was shocked when Zach brought these bad boys in last night.

I am SO excited! Mostly because I actually cared for a plant long enough for it to reward me and that we go through quite a few zucchini's every week. We'll be saving in the produce department when it comes to our little project which was my plan in the first place :)

Closing day ceremonies..

T-Ball has officially come to an end this year. Yesterday we attended the closing day ceremony where only half of the team was able to show up and receive their trophies. Jack was pretty proud and to top it all off we actually had our name drawn in the raffle! We were hoping for the 42" flat screen but settled for our new bike.

Kindergarten Graduation.

Last Wednesday was an exciting day for our little family. Jackson graduated from Kindergarten!! He has had an amazing year and has done so well. We are going to miss his amazing teacher dearly. Here are some highlights of the day.

I was presented (along with all of the other Mom's) with a corsage made by my little guy.

All of the kids looked adorable in their red felt caps.

The Proud Graduates.

A Little entertainment before the ceremony, The Chicken Dance.

Jack's principal, Mr. Walton, presenting him with his diploma. (The wind kicked up and Jack lost his cap)

Reading his diploma.

Releasing the butterflies that they raised from caterpillars.

Watching the butterflies flutter away.

After ceremony party pose with his lady friend, Miss Gwennie.

A simple solution.

With summer vacay rapidly approaching I am going into my summer nesting phase. Translation: I will have more time to do things around the house, for myself and for fun activities with Jackson. Today when I was doing my Sunday cleaning I noticed Zach and Jackson's heap of shoes by our tiny entry way. It used to be cute, when Jack would take the time to line them all up according to size but lately it has turned into a pile of unorganized shoes, consisting of footwear from work boots to baseball cleats. The boys really need their shoes to be right by the door so there is one last thing to search for in the morning so I had to come up with a solution for this problem. It was easily taken care of with a little old bedside table in our garage (which was left over at Great Grandma Martha's house when she moved into assisted living) with nice deep drawers to fit all sizes of shoes and plenty of room on top to flop your keys and cell phone down when you walk in the door! I will most likely paint it when I have more time and perhaps some cute new pulls but for the time being it will do. It fit perfectly between the door and the end of the carpet, it was meant for this small space.

Did I tell you?

That we went to see Flight of the Conchords at the Santa Barbara Bowl on May 22nd? Well... we did and they were amazing. I think i love them even more now after seeing them live, if that is at all possible.

And speaking of Veggies..

Here is a whole box full of more locally grown, pesticide free, inexpensive goodness from Rutiz Farms included in this box are the following items:

broccoli

cauliflower

carrots

Jerry's "Sierra Gold" potatoes

fennel bulb

baby artichokes

salad mix with spinach and arugula

sweet "spring" onions

1 basket of strawberries
All for a reasonable $14! This will last our little family until next Friday when I take the box back to be refilled with new vegetable goodness. I highly recommend signing up for one and supporting this local farmer.

Just a little Veggie Update.

I have had a few of my blog readers ask how our little veggie boxes were doing so here is an update. I think we are at about 3 weeks in the ground.

The Watermelons.

The Volunteer (is it pumpkins or is it watermelon? Stay tuned)

Strawberries. They are doing SO well and are already bearing fruit, YAY!

The Zucchini.
The Green Beans, they already have a couple of hanging guys!

After not too much luck in our mini-green house the Butter Lettuce started to sprout outdoors.

Eensy Weensy Corn, Still growing! Hopefully it will all work out in the end.

All in all it is coming right along. Not too shabby.
